The ambitious soundtrack series kicked off with the February 12th release of “VINYL: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 1,” a full length soundtrack tied to the much-anticipated, season premiere of VINYL. A series of eight digital releases followed, each featuring an exciting combination of original tracks written and produced exclusively for the series, vintage songs from the period re-recorded by contemporary artists, and a wealth of catalogue favourites, all either appearing in or inspired by music in that week’s episode.

The entire “VINYL: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES” catalog was produced by the GRAMMY winning trio behind “BOARDWALK EMPIRE VOLUME 1: MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES” comprised of VINYL music supervisor Randall Poster (“THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK,” “THE WOLF OF WALL STREET: MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE”), Atlantic Records Group President of Film & Television/Atlantic Records Executive Vice President Kevin Weaver (“FURIOUS 7: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK,” “THE FAULT IN OUR STARS: MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE”), and VINYL music producer Stewart Lerman. GAVIN JAMES LIVE AT 3ARENA

Following a rollercoaster year, Gavin James has announced details of his only headline Dublin show in 2016 when he performs at Dublin’s 3Arena on Friday 9 December.

12923171_992161170819780_686783913514775421_n

Tickets €34.50 (standing) / €39.50 (seated) incl. booking & facility fee are on sale at 9am on Friday 15th April from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide and online at www.ticketmaster.ie

2015 was a bit of a blur for Gavin James. He lost count of how many gigs he played, couldn’t say how many countries he visited and hasn’t a clue how few days off he got. The highlights, however, he will never forget.

Signing to a major label in January was the first. Seeing the live album he’d recorded at his local pub Whelan’s for next to nothing take off across the world was another. Supporting friend and fan Ed Sheeran for two nights at his hometown’s huge Croke Park (75,000), spending the summer supporting Sam Smith in the States and opening for Taylor Swift in Hyde Park were among them. There was sizzling on stage at a sun-soaked Red Rocks, a concert in South Carolina where the size of the crowd scared him and selling out his debut New York show at Mercury Lounge.

Last year was a blast, but it was only the beginning for the toweringly-tall, down-to-earth Dubliner whose heavenly voice, heart-warming, spine-tingling songs and habit of jumping in to audiences to start sing-alongs has won him an army of fans around the world. 2016’s schedule is already full. The sold-out shows – headline this time – have already begun, with a three-night run at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre – as has platinum Top 5 sales for his debut album, Bitter Pill, in his native Ireland, where he was awarded Song Of The Year for the album’s title track at the Choice Music Prize.

And now comes Bitter Pill’s global release. Several of its songs will be familiar to fans of Live At Whelan’s, the intimate live album the singer released at the start of last year as a calling card, but didn’t expect to connect beyond his homeland. On Bitter Pill, those songs have been given the grand setting and loving attention they deserve. Gavin’s raw delivery remains, as does his powerful falsetto, but now there are strings, choir-like backing vocals and electric instruments that add drama to the uptempo tracks.

Tickets for Gavin James are on sale at 9am on Friday 15th April here

Headline this summer’s Reading and Leeds Festivals

Biffy Clyro follow 2013’s critically acclaimed #1 double-album ‘Opposites’ with their seventh studio album ‘Ellipsis’ which will be released on July 8th on Warner Bros. Records / 14th Floor Recordings. Pre-orders for the album are now open , with the first single ‘Wolves of Winter’ now streaming and available as an instant grat track.

As is tradition, writing sessions for the album saw Biffy Clyro – Simon Neil (vocals/guitar) and the Johnston brothers James (bass) and Ben (drums) working in the intimate environment of their practice room. They then headed to Los Angeles for recording sessions with producer Rich Costey (Muse, My Chemical Romance, Sigur Ros).

Citing influences as diverse as Tears For Fears’ ‘Songs From The Big Chair’ album, DJ Arca and Deafheaven, Simon Neil has described ‘Ellipsis’ as “more of a punch to the nose than a big cuddle.” Lyrically, the album’s songs tackle personal issues with the idea of “fighting back” a recurring theme.

Such themes are also apparent in the album’s visceral first single ‘Wolves of Winter’ which captures Biffy Clyro’s famous blend of angular riffs, pummelling rhythms and strident hooks. Says Neil: “’Wolves of Winter’ is about us being wolves on a patch and if you come onto that patch, we’ll tear you limb-from-limb.”

An ‘Ellipsis’ (most commonly depicted as …) indicates a continuation: in this case, Biffy Clyro’s new body of work is an ongoing representation of everything that the band have stood for since first debuting in 2002 with the ‘Blackened Sky’ album.

‘Ellipsis’ will be available digitally and on CD as both standard and deluxe editions. In addition, a variety of vinyl formats will be issued together with a special D2C box set which will be available exclusively from www.biffyclyro.com.

After playing their only show of 2015 shortly before midnight on New Year’s Eve at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, Biffy Clyro recently announced that they’ll headline this summer’s Reading (August 28th) and Leeds Festivals (August 26th).

Now Biffy Clyro can also announce details of their biggest Scottish show at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park on August 27th. Part of this year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions, the 35,000 capacity show features special guests Fall Out Boy as well as more bands that will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets go on sale from 9am on Wednesday March 23rd and will be available from www.glasgowsummersessions.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.

‘Opposites’ saw Biffy Clyro flourish with their first #1 album and another Top 10 single with ‘Black Chandelier’. The band’s live shows soared to new heights with highlights including debut festival headline sets at Reading, Leeds, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Isle of Wight and T in the Park; a triumphant sold-out UK arena tour; and extensive touring across six continents.

Lady Gaga paid tribute to David Bowie

Lady Gaga stepped out onto the Grammy stage tonight for the evening’s tribute to the late David Bowie. The singer channeled his look and costumes as she ran through a medley of his biggest hits, including “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” “Ziggy Stardust,” “Fame” and “Heroes.” She was backed by a horn section and orchestra, with Chic’s Nile Rodgers on guitar. COLDPLAY ANNOUNCED AS GLASTONBURY HEADLINERS
BAND TO MAKE RECORD-BREAKING FOURTH HEADLINE APPEARANCE

Coldplay today became the first headline act to be confirmed for Glastonbury Festival 2016. They will top the Pyramid Stage bill on Sunday, June 26th.

cpglasto

The band will become the first artists to headline Glastonbury on four occasions, following previous Pyramid Stage headline appearances in 2002, 2005 and 2011. Their 2011 set was later voted the Top Glastonbury Moment of the event’s long history by BBC Radio listeners.

The Glastonbury performance will be Coldplay’s only festival show of this year’s A Head Full Of Dreams Tour. The band have already sold more than two million tickets for their run of stadium dates in Europe, the U.S. and Latin America. The entire tour – which includes four nights at London’s Wembley Stadium – is now close to selling out.

Since the December release of Coldplay’s seventh album, A Head Full Of Dreams, the record has reached Number One on iTunes in more than 90 countries and sold over 3 million copies. It has also helped Coldplay to their current position as Spotify’s most-streamed band in the world.

Following the band’s vibrant Halftime Show performance at Super Bowl 50, A Head Full Of Dreams currently sits at Number One in the UK album chart, with its two singles Adventure Of A Lifetime and Hymn For The Weekend both in the UK Top 30.

COLPLAY 2

Tomorrow night (Wednesday, February 17th), Coldplay will receive the Godlike Genius award at the 2016 NME Awards, where they will also play a set. The following week, the band will perform at the 2016 BRITs, where they have been nominated for Best British Album and Best British Group. This takes their career total to 23 BRITs nominations (more than any other band).
