Hayley Williams has announced today’s premiere of “Simmer,” the first single from the GRAMMY® award-winning Paramore singer’s hugely anticipated debut solo album. Produced by Taylor York, lead collaborator in the GRAMMY® award-winning Paramore, “Simmer” heralds Williams’ upcoming debut solo album, “PETALS FOR ARMOR,” due May 8th.

“I’m so ready and so incredibly humbled to get to share this project,” says Williams. “Making it was a scary, empowering experience. Some of my proudest moments as a lyricist happened while writing ‘PETALS FOR ARMOR.’ And I was able to get my hands a little dirtier than usual when it came to instrumentation. I’m in a band with my favorite musicians so I never really feel the need to step into a role as a player when it comes to Paramore records. This project, however, benefited from a little bit of musical naïveté and rawness and so I experimented quite a bit more. I made this with some of the closest people to me. Their respective talents really shine bright throughout the record. I like to think we all make each other better and the result is something that sounds and FEELS exactly as I’d hoped it would. Now that it’s time to put it all out there, I can finally exhale. I’m excited to let people in to experience a different side of myself that I’ve only very recently become familiar with.”

“Simmer” marks Hayley Williams’ first new music release since Paramore’s chart-topping 2017 album, “AFTER LAUGHTER.” Highlighted by the gold certified “Hard Times,” and singles “Told You So,” “Fake Happy,” and “Rose-Coloured Boy,” the LP debuted at #1 on Billboard’s “Top Alternative Albums” chart upon its May 2017 release while also arriving on the overall SoundScan/Billboard 200 at #6 – Paramore’s third consecutive top 10 chart debut. Along with its popular success, “AFTER LAUGHTER” ultimately proved one of the year’s most critically applauded releases, with The Fader, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NPR, Billboard, and many more ranking it among their “Best of 2017” coverage.

Griff has today released her debut album, vertigo, which is available now on Warner Music. The British pop star’s landmark project lands alongside a visualiser for ‘Tears For Fun’, with Griff recently sharing new single ‘Anything’ and opening for Taylor Swift at her iconic Eras tour. Griff is set for a whirlwind run of in-store events launching vertigo this week, having also been invited to tour around the US later this year by Sabrina Carpenter: her vertigo world tour continues this summer, with dates across Australia, America, Europe and the UK already announced, including a London show at Alexandra Palace on November 13th.

vertigo confirms Griff as the next great British pop star. Moving through the cycles of melancholy, disorientation, euphoria and self-discovery, it’s a Coming of Age journey that Griff has taken fans on ever since she broke through over the pandemic. With a 360-approach on everything from production, fashion and design to the spiral motif long connecting vertigo in plain sight – right down to her signature hairstyle – Griff’s debut album turns the tumultuousness of young adulthood into a vibrant source of power.

 

Such moments of catharsis are evident on focus track ‘Tears For Fun’, a contemplation on the future, faith and whether things will turn out OK in the end, as promised. Its existential angst is set to the kind of anthemic and ultimately uplifting songwriting that is weaved throughout vertigo: from the euphoric ‘Anything’ – the lengths young love will take you to – to ‘Miss Me Too’ (about the little-discussed irony of growing more confused, as you purportedly grow older and wiser). Yet giving such feelings a clear voice has proved to be Griff’s turning point: the album’s roller-coaster title track literally names that upside-down sensation in your stomach (vertigo) and with it, the emotional breakthrough needed to discuss such experiences openly.

 

What emerges from vertigo is the importance of perspective, its spiral-motif less an unravelling than a hopeful symbol of eternal renewal, with infinite opportunities for change. Griff has today shared anthemic new single, ‘Anything’, taken from her much-anticipated debut album vertigo (out July 19th on Warner Music). Having been hand-picked to open for Taylor Swift at her upcoming Wembley Stadium residency (June 22nd), Griff has also just been announced to open for Sabrina Carpenter around the US later this year. Griff’s vertigo world tour continues this summer, with intimate in-store events surrounding release recently-added and a London show at the iconic Alexandra Palace set to follow on November 13th.

‘Anything’ explodes the bargaining-phase of a formative relationship, its epic synths and locomotive drums driving home the lesson (unbeknownst to the narrator) that you need only ever be enough for yourself. Dramatic but euphoric, it’s a perfect preview of Griff’s debut album vertigo, which documents the trial-and-error process of growing up but always hinges on knowing yourself first. “Anything’ is about the idea that you would go to any length to make someone care for you, but they don’t realise the power they hold,” Griff comments. “At a young age I think there’s often a bit of imbalance, and I wanted the song to capture the intensity of those young relationships.”

Recent single ‘Miss Me Too’ is a euphoric, existential banger about the little-discussed irony of losing confidence as you supposedly grow older and wiser, and was accompanied by a beautifully choreographed video physically exorcizing such emotions. Throughout the record, the BRITs Rising Star winner draws on her sideways origin-story, from her unorthodox Chinese-Jamaican outsider-status growing up to launching an international music career from the confines of her bedroom. That tenacious, no-nonsense talent always wise beyond her years also sounds – crucially – like she is living: free of expectation, and moving through a world in which there is no one way to make your debut album or to be yourself.

To celebrate the release of ‘BRAT’ on Friday, Charli brought her now infamous ‘PARTYGIRL’ club night to London’s HERE at The Outernet for a back to back performance from Charli, A. G. Cook, George Daniel and Finn Keane, with a special surprise appearance from Shygirl.

The new album ‘BRAT’ includes the hit single ‘Von dutch’ – the brash and synth heavy first taste of the record – alongside recent releases ‘Club classics’, ‘B2b’ and ‘360’. Coldplay have today announced the release of their highly-anticipated tenth album, Moon Music. The record will land in stores and on streaming services on October 4, 2024.

The album’s first single, feelslikeimfallinginlove, will be released globally on Friday, June 21. The single can be presaved here. The band performed the song for the first time last night during their sold out stadium show at Budapest’s Puskás Aréna.

Moon Music, which was produced by Max Martin, is available to pre-order everywhere now, with a limited number of hand-signed editions available from the official Coldplay Store, at store.coldplay.com.

NEW FORMATS AND NEW SUSTAINABILITY STANDARDS

In tandem with Coldplay’s ground-breaking sustainability measures on their current tour – which has so far produced 59% less CO2e emissions than their previous stadium tour – the band have gone to great lengths to make the physical release of Moon Music as sustainable as possible.

This will be the world’s first album released as a 140g EcoRecord rPET LP, with each copy containing nine recycled PET-plastic bottles recovered from post-consumer waste. This will prevent the manufacture of more than 25 metric tonnes of virgin plastic, and provide an 85% reduction in manufacturing process CO2 emissions/kg compared to traditional 140g vinyl.

Additionally, the band have collaborated with long-time partners The Ocean Cleanup to create an additional format: the Notebook Edition EcoRecord rPET LP. The rPET for this edition comprises 70% river plastic, intercepted by The Ocean Cleanup from the Rio Las Vacas, Guatemala, and prevented from reaching the Gulf of Honduras and the Atlantic Ocean.

The CD editions of Moon Music will be the world’s first to be released on EcoCD, created from 90% recycled polycarbonate, sourced from post-consumer waste streams. This will provide at least a 78% CO2/kg emission reduction, and avoid the manufacture of more than five metric tonnes of virgin plastic.

LIMITED FIRST EDITION RELEASE

In an effort to reduce waste, the first edition run of Moon Music (both EcoRecord rPET LP and EcoCD) will be strictly limited and produced at a higher specification than any future editions. All First Edition EcoRecord rPET LP products will be individually numbered.

The Notebook Edition also includes additional voice notes and demos from the album’s recording sessions, providing a special insight into the music’s development.

Moon Music is Coldplay’s first album since 2021’s Music Of The Spheres, which spawned the US Number One single with BTS, My Universe, and was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Music Of The Spheres has already accumulated more than four billion streams.
