Twenty years after their debut ‘Word Gets Around’ and six #1 albums later, Stereophonics are set to release their new album ‘Scream Above The Sounds’ on November 3rd on Parlophone Records.

Their 10th studio album, ‘Scream Above The Sounds’ follows ‘Keep The Village Alive’ which went straight to #1 when it was released in 2015 – their sixth chart-topper after ‘Performance and Cocktails’ (1999), ‘Just Enough Education To Perform’ (2001) ‘You Gotta Go There To Come Back’ (2003), ‘Language. Sex. Violence. Other?’ (2005) and ‘Pull The Pin’ (2007).

Stereophonics consists of founding members Kelly Jones (vocals/guitar) and Richard Jones (bass) along with Adam Zindani (guitar) and Jamie Morrison (drums). Long-term keyboardist Tony Kirkham joins the band for live shows.

Kelly said of the songwriting process that he began to write “big, anthemic songs that are rallying against those anxious feelings that have flooded through cities. Every song offers a sense of release,” he says. “Even when there’s nostalgia, fear or anxiety, they’re still all offering hope and room to manoeuvre.”

The first single ‘All In One Night’ represents the band’s affection for the melancholy. Set to a consistent mid-paced rhythm which evokes a nocturnal motorway drive, it finds the narrator’s life taking a dramatic turn as night brightens to day. Influenced by the Sebastian Schipper film ‘Victoria’, it’s a song that had an unusual genesis – Kelly started it when the band had an unscheduled day’s stay in China before he finished it back home in London. Even the atmospheric call of the chorus was fortuitous, being an adaptation of a vocal exercise he was using.

‘Scream Above The Sounds’ was primarily recorded in the band’s HQ in west London with a further session at RAK Studios. Created with the help of regular collaborator Jim Lowe, it’s an album in which creative sonic touches add to the band’s emphasis on songwriting and melody.

‘Scream Above The Sounds’ will be released on digital (standard and deluxe), CD (standard and deluxe) and vinyl formats. It’s available to pre-order from http://www.stereophonics.com with ‘All In One Night’ provided as an instant download.

Stereophonics will headline Kendal Calling on July 28th, Y Not Festival on July 29th, Victorious Festival on August 26th ahead of their set at BBC 2 Live In Hyde Park on September 10th.

The ‘Scream Above The Sounds’ tracklisting is:

1. ‘Caught By The Wind’
2. ‘Taking A Tumble’
3. ‘What’s All The Fuss About?’
4. ‘Geronimo’
5. ‘All In One Night’
6. ‘Chances Are’
7. ‘Before Anyone Knew Our Name’

NO BOYS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO ?

Pop entrepreneur, Charli XCX, has today unveiled her brand new single “Boys” alongside her accompanying, self-directed music video
Pushing the boundaries of her artistry, Charlotte Aitchison (aka Charli XCX) has worked with Jerker Hansson (Zara Larsson, Terror Jnr) and Cass Lowe (Snakehips, Rudimental) on “Boys” marking the second official single from her forthcoming third album, which will be released next year.

The accompanying video – commissioned and directed by Charli herself alongside Sarah McColgan (Kendrick Lamar) – playfully challenges gender stereotypes in music videos/film and features an all-star male cast including guest appearances from Stormzy, Mark Ronson, Diplo, Joe Jonas, Brendon Urie, will.i.am, Mac DeMarco, Riz Ahmed and many more!

Charli says – “Boys is my favourite music video I’ve ever made. I just wanna say a big thanks to all the boys involved, for totally embracing and understanding my vision and being excited by the concept p.s. no boys were harmed in the making of this video.”

Go back to March and you’d see Charli release her genre-defying EP “Number 1 Angel”. Boasting hook-fuelled collaborations with some of her favourite artists of the moment (including RAYE and MØ), Charli played mixtape shows in London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles upon release with The Observer saying of her London Jazz Café performance “the world-beating British songwriter distils pop down to its shiny, pulsating essence.” The EP followed her autumn 2016 single “After The Afterparty” feat. Lil Yachty: the track has now surpassed 43 million global streams.

The multi award-winning talent has earnt critical acclaim as both a singer and songwriter over her career and her refreshing entrepreneurial spirit has seen her carve her own lane on the global pop circuit. With multiple strings to her bow – video director; singer; songwriter; documentary maker; radio host; record label boss – the starlet has won 2 x Sesac Songwriter of the Year Awards, 2 x NME Awards, 2 x Billboard Awards, 1 x YouTube Music Award alongside an array of nominations at the Grammy’s, BRIT Awards and MTV EMA’s. Not to mention the studio time she’s commanded with the likes of Blondie [Charli has writing credits on their latest LP ‘Pollinator’], Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears and many more.

Charli XCX will be supporting Halsey on her USA tour this autumn. Stay tuned for further announcements…..

THE DOORS “LIGHT MY FIRE” HIT ON THE US BILLBOARD SINGLES CHART 50 YEARS AGO THIS SATURDAY JULY 29th

“Play ‘Light My Fire At 7:29’ On 29/7” Campaign For Fans And Radio To Play Song In Union On Anniversary

50th Milestone Celebrated With Limited Edition 7” Replica Of The Japanese Version Of The Original 1967 Single And A New Digital And Streaming Maxi-Single Featuring Multiple Versions

This Saturday, July 29th, marks 50 years since the Doors hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Light My Fire,” one of the biggest songs from the Summer of Love and the band’s best-selling single of all time.

Rhino will commemorate the 50th anniversary with two new releases this Friday: a limited edition reproduction of the original 7” single that was released in Japan in 1967 and a new digital and streaming maxi-single with three different versions of “Light My Fire.”

Fans and radio stations worldwide are also encouraged to celebrate the anniversary this Saturday with the call to action to “PLAY ‘LIGHT MY FIRE’ AT 7:29 ON 7/29,” with the result being millions of Doors fans listening to the song simultaneously on the golden anniversary. Fans can share their memory of the song with the hashtag #lightmyfire.

WATCH Robby Krieger discussing how he wrote “Light My Fire”

Limited to just 7,500 vinyl copies, the 7” replica sleeve replicates the artwork that was unique to the original Japanese release and contains the original A and B sides: the mono single edit of “Light My Fire” and the mono album version of “The Crystal Ship.”

The new digital maxi-single of “Light My Fire” will also be available this Friday on all digital download and streaming services. The bundle features the mono single version, the stereo album version, and a live version from the Felt Forum in New York City from January 17, 1970.

Guitarist Robby Krieger wrote most of “Light My Fire,” which also happened to be the first song he ever wrote. The track – along with the Doors’ first single “Break On Through (To The Other Side)” – helped fuel the band’s early success and made stars of Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, and Krieger.

Released in May 1967, “Light My Fire” was the second single from the Doors’ eponymous debut, a multi-platinum classic that’s considered by many today to be among rock’s finest debut albums. The song entered the Billboard chart on June 3, and after a few weeks it had climbed to the top, reaching number one on July 29. Both “Light My Fire” and the Doors’ debut album have been inducted in to the Grammy® Hall Of Fame and the latter has also been added to the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress.

“Light My Fire” will also be included in the upcoming Doors “The Singles” release on September 15. The collection includes every single and B-side the band released in the U.S., all gathered together for the first time. “The Singles” is available in a variety of physical and digital formats including a limited edition vinyl boxed set featuring twenty 7” replicas of all of the Doors’ singles.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF “CORE”

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF “CORE”

4CD/DVD/LP Super Deluxe Edition Features Newly Remastered Version Of The Band’s Debut, Plus Rarities, Unreleased Demos And Live Recordings, A Surround Sound Mix And Original Music Videos

Super Deluxe, Deluxe, Digital Download, And Streaming Versions Available September 29 From Rhino

Stone Temple Pilots roared on to the scene 25 years ago with their raucous debut Core. A breakout success, the album peaked at #3 on the Billboard charts, dominated radio waves with hits like “Sex Type Thing” and “Wicked Garden,” and has been certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA. The band also took home the 1994 Grammy® Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for their smash single “Plush.”

To mark the legendary album’s silver anniversary, Rhino will release 2 versions on September 29, which is 25 years to the day of the album’s original debut. The first is the CORE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION, which includes four CDs featuring a newly remastered version of the original album, plus more than two hours of unreleased demos and live performances, including the band’s performance on MTV Unplugged. Also included is the original album on vinyl and a DVD that contains a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of the album along with videos for the album’s four singles. The set, limited to 15,000 copies worldwide, comes packaged in a richly detailed hardcover book (12 x 12) with rare and unseen photographs. The music from the Super Deluxe version will be available via digital download and streaming services.

Fans can pre-order a limited edition bundle of the CORE: SUPER DELUXE EDITON at www.stonetemplepilots.com which includes a bonus replica 7-inch vinyl single of “Plush” that was originally released in the UK in 1993. This exclusive bundle is limited to 1,000 copies.

Also available on the same day is a 2-CD CORE: DELUXE VERSION containing a newly remastered version of the original album expanded with rare b-sides and previously unreleased demos. A single disc remaster of the original album will be available as well.

Stone Temple Pilots (guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, drummer Eric Kretz, and vocalist Scott Weiland) debuted with Core in the fall of 1992 and by the following summer were one of the biggest rock bands on the scene, powered by exhilarating live shows and a string of now-classic songs from the album, remastered here for the very first time.

Nearly all of the music on the second disc of both versions is making its commercial debut. Of the nine demos included, four were recorded between 1987 and 1990 when the band was known as Mighty Joe Young. One of those, “Only Dying,” is an unheard song the band had planned to re-record in 1994 for The Crow Soundtrack. The idea was later scrapped after the star of the film, Brandon Lee, was killed during production. The disc continues with five unreleased demos from their original Atlantic sessions and concludes with four b-sides, including the jazzy Swing Type Version of “Sex Type Thing,” as well as two acoustic versions of “Plush”—the “Acoustic Type Version” recorded with the full band and the rarely heard “first take” that was recorded by Weiland and Dean DeLeo for MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball in 1993.

The third disc contains two fiery live recordings from the summer of 1993, the first an unreleased performance at Castaic Lake Natural Amphitheater near Los Angeles and the second from the Reading Festival, making its U.S. debut here. These high-energy shows feature performances of all but two songs from Core as well as an early live version of “Lounge Fly,” a song the band has just written a month earlier that would appear the following year on the band’s second album Purple.

The band’s iconic appearance on MTV Unplugged, recorded in November 1993, gets its first official release on the final CD in the set. This would be their last performance in support of Core and includes reworked, acoustic versions of “Wicked Garden” and “Sex Type Thing,” the debut performance of “Big Empty,” which would later appear on Purple, and a cover of David Bowie’s “Andy Warhol.”

CORE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION also features the original album pressed on vinyl, and a DVD that presents a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of Core together will all four of the videos made for the album: “Sex Type Thing,” “Plush,” “Wicked Garden,” and “Creep.”

THE SMITHS ‘THE QUEEN IS DEAD’ NEWLY MASTERED AND EXPANDED VERSION

THE SMITHS RELEASE NEWLY MASTERED AND EXPANDED VERSION OF
‘THE QUEEN IS DEAD’ ON 20TH OCTOBER

Widely considered to be both The Smiths’ finest work and one of the greatest albums ever made, ‘The Queen Is Dead’ has cast a significant influence over subsequent generations since it was first released in the summer of 1986. Now Warner Bros. Records can confirm details of a newly mastered and expanded version of the album that will be released on 20th October.

This reissue represents the first time that The Smiths’ back catalogue has been revisited in such a way. It follows two recent limited edition vinyl singles sourced from the archives: a demo mix of ‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ which was released for Record Store Day, and ‘The Queen Is Dead’ which debuted at #1 on the official vinyl chart when it was released in June.

The album features several of the band’s finest moments including the title track and ‘There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’, as well as the iconic singles ‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ and ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’.

‘The Queen Is Dead’ will be released on digital and streaming formats as well as the following physical formats – all of which feature the 2017 master of the original album:

2CD version – featuring the 2017 master and additional recordings.

5LP box – featuring the 2017 master of the album, additional recordings and the ‘Live In Boston’ recording.

“You cannot continue to record and simply hope that your audience will approve, or that average critics will approve, or that radio will approve,” says Morrissey. “You progress only when you wonder if an abnormally scientific genius would approve – and this is the leap The Smiths took with The Queen Is Dead.”

Johnny Marr adds, “The Queen Is Dead was epic to make and epic to live.”
